Tangerine Dream - Cloudburst Flight
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 452 seconds
From the 1979 album 'Force Majeure'. This track defines the meeting between TD's amorphous 70s sound and their more structured 80s sound. Probably their best-known track and arguably the best-loved by their fans. It has also been very influential on up-and-coming musicians in the electronic music genre.

William Orbit - Water From A Vine Leaf
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 425 seconds
Orbit is best known to most people as a producer and remixer who has worked with such artists as U2, Madonna, Blur, Sugababes, etc. However, he is also a recording artist/multi-instrum entalist himself, having released several albums of electronic/ambient music. This is one of his more upbeat numbers, from the 1993 album 'Strange Cargo 3'

Weather Report - Birdland
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 358 seconds
This is a tribute to Joe Zawinul, one of the giants of modern jazz keyboards, who sadly died on 11th September 2007, aged 75. This is probably his most famous composition, which was featured on Weather Report's seminal 1977 album 'Heavy Weather'. Goodbye Joe, your music lives on......

Vangelis - Heaven & Hell Pt.1
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 247 seconds
From the 1975 album 'Heaven And Hell'. On the original pressings of the LP, this track was titled 'Symphony To The Powers B, Movement 3'. On later issues of the LP, and on the CD releases, the entire album was retitled, to just Heaven & Hell Parts One and Two. Many people know it simply as 'The Theme from Cosmos', after Carl Sagan selected it as the main theme for his groundbreaking TV series.

Alan Parsons Project - Hyper-Gamma-Spaces
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 263 seconds
This track, from the 1978 album 'Pyramid', is another of the great instrumental tracks that Parsons always included on the Project albums. The title of this track always made me think that they were putting forward the idea of pyramids being the portals to other dimensions, years before the movie and TV series Stargate took up the idea and expanded it.

Tangerine Dream - Sun Gate
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 286 seconds
Track from the 1988 album 'Optical Race'. This album marked TD's move to ex-band member Peter Baumann's Private Music label. This track is far and away the best on the album, featuring some great guitar work by Edgar Froese. Images are of desert sunsets.

Vangelis - Love Theme (Blade Runner)
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 272 seconds
From the soundtrack of the 1982 hit movie Blade Runner. Although Vangelis won an Academy Award for his score for the movie 'Chariots of Fire', many of his fans think the score for Blade Runner was better. The images are some of my favourite actresses, past and present.

Weather Report - Teen Town
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 176 seconds
Short track from the group's 1977 album 'Heavy Weather', featuring the sublime talents of Jaco Pastorius, probably the greatest-ever bass player. Images are of the J-man himself. My vid for the track Harlequin, from the same album, refuses to appear in general searches no matter what I try. To find it, use the search string Weather Report Harlequin.

Alan Parsons Project - In The Lap Of The Gods
Posted by: MitchyLR
Video duration: 331 seconds
Instrumental track from the 1978 album 'Pyramid'. For me, this album was the perfect 'concept' album, where the concept, the music, the lyrics, the production all came together seamlessly. It's definately the best album the Project released. The concept of the album was Ancient Egypt and 'pyramid-power'. The start of the track is very quiet, but if you turn the volume up you may get a surprise!!
